Stained/Torn Edges
This tutorial uses PSP6, Texturizer and Xenofex Plug-in.

Right Click and save this picture.

Open PSP. Open the girl graphic.
Her size is 322x314.
Minimize this graphic for now.


Open a New Image 350X350.
Selections, Select All (CTRL+A)
Selections: Contract:
15 pixels

Image: Plug-ins: Xenofex: Stain

I used these settings.
Change the settings to get the effect you want.

Selections: Select None.
Click on the magic wand
to select the torn edges.

Selections: Invert.

Selections: Modify: Contract

2 pixels

Add a drop shadow.
Offset is 4.
Repeat, Same settings, Offset -4

This is what you should see.
Notice the white areas?

Click on the smudge tool.
Soften the white areas till blended.

Selections: Contract 15 pixels.

Maximize the girl. Click on the girl to make the image Active. (blue)
From the layer palette, with your mouse,
click on the background layer, HOLD the button down,
drag the layer onto the stain image as shown.
notice the plus sign?

You will see the torn edge marquee on the girl graphic.

Selection: Invert:
Hold the CTRL down, hit C to cut away the access.

Selections: Select none.
Add a layer.
Click on the new layer on the layer palette,
drag it to the bottom of the layers.
Flood fill this bottom layer with a color.

Image, Plug-ins, Texturizer. I used Sandstone.

Click on the double arrow to make
the background color the filled background color above.

Image, Add Borders.

To equal 1024 across (standard stationery width)
Take the graphic width (350) subtract from 1024
674 is the needed width for the right.

Click on the new right side of the stationery
with the magic wand.
Use the texturizer to match the image background as above.

Your finished stationery should look like this.

Here is a different color.
