Layer Stationery

Everything has it's own layer in this tutorial.
Open a new Image
1024x350

Use the selection tool,
make a large rectangle box in the lower
part of the screen.
Flood fill  with green.

Add a layer.
Selections, Invert
flood fill with sky blue.

Selections, Select None.
If the grass and sky are not to the edge
use the deformation tool  to pull the ends out past the edge.

Add a layer.
click on the tube brush .
(I use the browse to see the tubes I want to use.)
Click for the fence tube.
Here are the tubes, except for the well.
I couldn't find it. Sorry

Add the fence. Duplicate the fence layer.

Move the fence into place. Duplicate it again.
Move it into place.

X out layer one (grass)
and Layer two (sky)
now Layers, Merge, Merge visible.

Now you have a fence across the grass.
Move it to where you like.
I moved the fence to the left to leave some
blank area on the right side.

Add a layer for each tube you use.
Be sure not to have a tube touch
the edge of the stationery. It will leave a seam.
Except the fence.

I added a birdhouse and moved it behind the fence.
Add a layer. Add the girl.

Add a layer.
Add flowers.
Change the size of the flowers to give depth.
Be sure to add a layer for front flowers and back flowers.
Here you see the back flowers in front of the fence.
when you get them how you want,
simply left click/ hold, drag the layer under the fence layer
on the layer palette..

Like this.

Erase any left over areas.

Keep adding layers and tubes.

Add clouds to the sky.

Move the cloud layer just over the sky layer.
You can name your layers to keep track of them.
Add a sun and move it slightly behind the clouds.

I added a well. And grass.

Now go to each layer,
add a small drop shadow to give depth.

Like this.
I used the texturizer to give the grass some depth.

I have EyeCandy.
I used it to add a perspective shadow.
But you can do the same type
of thing with the drop shadow.

Then I added the same drop shadow to her.
Check to see if everything is how you want it to be.
If not, you can use the move tool  to move
any layer because it's independent of the others.

Here is the finished top scroll stationery
