Backgrounds

Making your own backgrounds for
stationery is easy with PSP.

Pick an image you would like to use.
If you would like to use the clown I used, click here.
I search for images using the browse feature.
Just click on the image you want and drag it to the worktop.

Open a stationery width image (1024 pixels)
By the height of the image.
Click on the image, look at the bottom right hand corner,
Here you will see the size of the image you opened.

The height is 365 But I want a little room to play with,
so I opened a new image 1024X400

Click on the eyedropper, pick a color for the background
from the image. Fill the large image with this color.

Like this

We are going to move the clown to the large image.
Click on the clown image. (The top bar turns blue)
Open the layer palette, Click on the move tool, (Shown)
click on the layer, hold the mouse button down,
drag the clown image to the large image, notice the plus sign.
Release the mouse. Close the original clown image.
This is called Click and Drag. We use this move many times in my tutorials.

With the move tool, move the image in place.
The clown image is now layer two and
can be moved independently of layer 1.

I don't care for the flat line, so I clicked on the eraser tool.

And erased the bottom part of the image.
You can skip this part if you like.

Add a light shadow to the clown image.

To blend it in a bit better, move the opacity bar down a bit.

Save it as a jpg.
And there you go!

Here is a thumbnail of the finished background.
Click to see the large correct size.
