On My OE I  have these checked.
Contacts is a personal preference.

Do you messages disappear after you read them?
Check this area. Make sure Show all Messages is selected.

If you have very little space to view your messages or titles,
move the mouse over the slide bar until you get the double sided arrow.
Then hold the left mouse  button down and move the bar to suit you.

Let's check your options.

click on TOOLS/ Options
I suggest you have your mail to be checked every 3 to 5 minutes.
standard settings are 30 min. Why wait 30 min to get your mail?

Do you get kicked off the internet after sending or checking your mail?

Click on the Connection tab.
UNCHECK hang up after sending and receiving.

ALWAYS have ask before checked. There was ( a long time ago)
some sites where if you viewed them, something would disable your modem
speaker, and it would dial a long distance or over seas call.
And you wouldn't even know it. Until  you got a huge bill.
If you have this checked, a box will pop up warning you
the connections is being switched.

(Modem and DSL don't have to worry about this)

Click on the Send tab.
I suggest these setting.
Always uncheck the bold box.

To change the default font and size click here.

I hope these help a bit.
